Francesca is from Northern Italy, where she previously worked in the technical fabrics business, getting familiar with high performance composite materials such as Carbon, Kevlar, Twaron and glass for marine applications as well.
Always being passionate about travelling, diving and cooking, she got the chance to turn her life around when she decided to leave everything back on land to start sailing with her partner on a long once-in-a-lifetime adventure. After 2 amazing years sailing across Red Sea and Indian Ocean, she got to South East Asia where she lived, traveled and worked in the yachting industry for a few more years, learning more and more about yachting life and acquiring important knowledge about different cultures and cuisines.
Afterwards she worked more as Cook, Stewardess and Deckhand alternating summer seasons in the Mediterranean on a 58’ Catamaran with a few winter seasons in some tropical dream places, such as Panama San Blas Islands and French Polynesia, on different Sailing Yachts.
As Italian, she cooks most of her home country’s worldwide beloved cuisine, combining it with some elements of Asian one. Always curious about any different country’s traditions, she loves to learn and practice new culinary experiences according to the local fresh food availability and variety, with special care for healthy food.
Loving to explore the world and deeply connected with nature, she enjoys swimming, diving, paddling, trekking and yoga. She is a certified RYA Day Skipper, PADI Diver and Wat Po Thai Masseuse. She speaks English, Italian, French and Spanish.
I started sailing when I was young, at the beginning it was my sport, sailing fast and racing regattas was my only way to see boats, but later I learnt the other side: cruising and long distance sailing, I quickly realized this was my place.
I hopped boat to boat trying to learn as much as I could and I sailed many miles until I found the right boat (Catamaran Catana 581 “Follia”) and a great owner with whom I started a wonderful and long friendship and together we sailed around the world. This has been the greatest experience of my life.
Now my adventure in yachting world is going on with a new boat and a new owner, I’m very thrilled and curious to see where “Tamina” will bring me, I’m ready for new challenges.
After twenty years at sea and more then 100,000 miles my ambitions are to improve my skills and catch all the opportunities that will blow with the wind.
Fair winds and following seas.
